Design architect, Treanor Architects and architect of record SHW Group helped to master plan the transformation of Texas A&M's Northside community and design the first project. The 253,452 SF Northside Living Learning Center is the first new residence hall constructed on the Texas A&M main campus since the 1980s. Its construction sets the tone for several new student housing projects designed to revitalize the north side of campus.
Steeped in the university’s rich traditions and progressively forward thinking in design, the neighborhood will artfully embrace Aggie culture while bringing in a modern feeling of progress and innovation. Texas A&M branding will be ingrained in every aspect of the building’s design, reflecting the university’s past, present and future.
Organizationally a community of its own, this neighborhood for 648 residents is also an integral part of the greater 3,500 person Northside village. Serving as the "village square" it will be a destination for students to find what they need, want and desire – whether it’s play or academic focus. Amenity spaces to support students’ personal, social and academic success include: a café/coffee shop, media room , convenience store, community learning center, 24/7 mail, laundry facilities, community commons room, outdoor gathering, 3,000 square foot game room, classroom and multipurpose gathering, video production studio, and music practice rooms .
